Cape Verde

Atlantic islands, kitesurfing and a "no stress" vibe.

Capital

Currency
Escudo (CVE) — euros accepted
Flight from Douala
12-20h+ (1-2 stopovers)
Time difference

An Atlantic archipelago with a "morabeza" rhythm, Cape Verde charms with the beaches of Sal, the salt crater of Pedra de Lume, the Kite Beach kitesurfing spot and the UNESCO colonial town of Cidade Velha. Important in 2026: visa on arrival was abolished for Cameroonians — you now need a consular visa obtained before departure, plus the EASE pre-registration and the security tax.

Processing
Consular application several weeks ahead; EASE at least 5 days before departure

How to apply

Apply for a visa BEFORE departure at a Cape Verde embassy or consulate. No representation in Cameroon: the nearest embassies are in Abuja (Nigeria) and Dakar (Senegal). Then complete the online EASE pre-registration and pay the Airport Security Tax (TSA) before arrival.

Required documents

  • passport valid 6 months
  • visa obtained before departure
  • round-trip ticket
  • proof of accommodation
  • EASE pre-registration + paid TSA

Good to know

  • Since January 1, 2026 (decree No. 244/GMAI/2025), visa on arrival is abolished for 96 nationalities including Cameroon: without a valid visa, entry may be refused (including in transit).
  • Cameroon is not an ECOWAS member and therefore does not benefit from the community's visa exemption.
  • EASE pre-registration and the TSA tax remain mandatory for all travelers.
