Croatia

The Adriatic pearl wrapped in golden walls

Capital

Flight from Douala
12 to 16 hours with one stop
Time difference

Croatia is the Mediterranean you dream about from Douala: impossibly clear turquoise water, white-stone old towns and islands as far as the eye can see. UNESCO-listed Dubrovnik unfurls its ramparts above the sea, while Split blends Roman ruins with buzzing terraces. For a Cameroonian it feels like another world yet stays manageable: short distances, genuine safety and grilled-fish cooking that echoes home braised dishes. Expect a connecting flight through Europe and a Schengen visa, but the payoff is well worth the effort.

How to apply

Croatia is part of the Schengen area but has no embassy in Cameroon: its embassy in Rabat (Morocco) covers the country, and none of the official sources checked says another Schengen state represents it in YaoundΓ© or Douala. Before building your file, write to the Croatian embassy in Rabat or the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out where to apply. Croatian rule: with no Croatian embassy or visa centre in your country, you may apply at the nearest Croatian embassy or consulate in another country. The form is filled in online (crovisa.mvep.hr), printed and submitted in person with the documents and fingerprints.

Required documents

  • Passport valid 3 months beyond return, with 2 blank pages
  • Crovisa online form printed, completed and signed
  • Recent biometric passport photo
  • Round-trip flight and hotel bookings
  • Schengen travel insurance (€30,000 cover) and proof of funds

Good to know

  • β€’Apply to the country where you will spend the most nights: if Croatia is only a stop, apply to that country
  • β€’Book biometrics early; summer slots fill fast
  • β€’A valid Schengen visa from another country also lets you enter Croatia
