Czechia

The city of a hundred spires, jewel of Central Europe

Capital
Prague
Currency
Czech koruna (Kč)
Flight from Douala
12-18 h with a layover from Douala
Time difference
GMT+1/+2 (same time or +1 h vs Cameroon)

Prague looks straight out of a fairy tale: medieval bridges, Gothic castles and the oldest working astronomical clock. Czechia offers an affordable Central Europe where beer costs less than water. The Schengen visa stays demanding for a Cameroonian passport, but once granted it opens the whole European area.

How to apply

Czechia has no visa section in Cameroon: France receives its short-stay visa applications. Fill in the online form on France-Visas, then submit your file IN PERSON at the TLScontact centre in Yaoundé or Douala, depending on which French office covers your place of residence (fingerprints and photo). Another option: the Czech Embassy in Abuja (Nigeria), which covers Cameroon. Apply no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before departure.

Required documents

  • Passport under 10 years old, valid 3 months beyond return, with 2 blank pages
  • Printed and signed France-Visas form + ID photo
  • Travel medical insurance (min. €30,000 cover, mandatory)
  • Round-trip ticket and hotel booking in Czechia (or invitation)
  • Employment and leave certificate, last 3 payslips and last 3 bank statements

Good to know

  • •Schengen visa fee of €90 since 11 June 2024, plus the €38 TLScontact fee: about €128 (84,000 XAF), excluding insurance and photos.
  • •The visa is issued by the French consulate, which represents Czechia; it is valid in all 29 Schengen countries.
  • •If Czechia is not your main destination (longest stay), apply to the country of that stay.
