Greece
Cradle of civilization, the Cyclades islands and the Aegean Sea
Greece is where ancient history meets Mediterranean dolce vita. The cradle of democracy and philosophy lines up legendary archaeological sites — the Acropolis, Delphi, Olympia — before slipping into the postcard: the white blue-domed houses of Santorini, sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of the Cyclades. Athens, the sprawling, warm capital, blends ancient ruins with hip neighborhoods. For a Cameroonian, it is a Schengen destination with radiant weather, generous cuisine and a warm welcome. Ideal for combining culture, sun and islands, especially in spring and early autumn.

The visa, step by step
How to apply
Greece no longer has an embassy in Cameroon: for visas, France represents it. Applications for Greece are received by the consular section of the French embassy in Yaoundé, wherever you live in Cameroon. Start on the France-Visas Cameroon page for the procedure (French visas are submitted at TLScontact centres), book an appointment and submit your file IN PERSON, with fingerprints taken. Apply 4-6 weeks before departure (8-10 weeks for summer), never more than 6 months ahead.
Required documents
- Passport valid (3 months beyond return, 2 blank pages)
- Completed and signed Schengen form + recent ID photo
- Schengen travel insurance (min. €30,000, mandatory)
- Accommodation bookings for each stage (Athens, islands) and round-trip ticket
- Last 3 bank statements and proof of employment (allow €50 a day, €300 minimum for up to 5 days)
Good to know
- •For an Athens + islands trip, prove confirmed accommodation at each stage.
- •Schengen insurance is mandatory and the financial file is decisive: Greece requires €50 per day of stay (about 33,000 XAF), with a minimum of €300 (about 197,000 XAF) for up to 5 days.
- •Greece must be your main destination: France then processes the application on Greece's behalf.
