Israel

Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and the Dead Sea, at the crossroads of three religions.

Capital
Jerusalem (contested status; embassies often in Tel Aviv)
Currency
New Israeli shekel (ILS)
Flight from Douala
~13-20h (1-2 stopovers)
Time difference
GMT+2/+3 (+1h vs Cameroon)

Israel packs in a rare density of history: the old city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, trendy Tel Aviv and its beaches, the Dead Sea where you float, Masada and the Negev desert. Key point for Cameroonians: no ETA-IL for you, but the B2 visitor visa can now be requested online (eVisa-B2), with a possible interview at the Israeli embassy in Yaoundé. Also important: the regional situation remains unstable; check official advisories and avoid border areas (the Gaza envelope, the northern border with Lebanon).

Formalities

The visa, step by step

Allowed stay
Up to 90 days (B2 visitor visa, length set at the border)
Cost
NIS 105 handling fee (eVisa-B2); XAF 16,000 if filed at the embassy
Processing
A few days to 2 weeks (the embassy allows 14 working days)

How to apply

Apply online on the official portal of Israel's Population and Immigration Authority (eVisa-B2), open to visa-required countries: the answer comes by email and an interview at the Israeli embassy in Yaoundé remains possible. The classic embassy route (Bastos, appointment by email, in-person attendance) still exists.

Required documents

  • copy of passport (valid at least 3 months beyond the stay)
  • recent photo on a white background
  • round-trip flight ticket
  • health insurance valid in Israel for the whole stay
  • hotel booking or host letter
  • bank statements for the last 3 months

Good to know

  • •The Yaoundé embassy page (updated August 2024) still describes in-person filing; the Israeli immigration eVisa-B2 portal is open to visa-required countries, Cameroon included.
  • •The eVisa does not guarantee entry: border control makes the final decision.
  • •Tense regional situation: check travel advisories before departure.
