Lesotho
The kingdom in the sky
Entirely perched above 1,000 meters, Lesotho is the only country in the world whose entire territory lies at high altitude — a mountain kingdom landlocked within South Africa. For a Cameroonian used to coastal heat, it's a refreshing shock: snowy peaks in winter, Basotho herders wrapped in their famous blankets riding ponies, and a peaceful end-of-the-world feeling. Great news too: the Cameroonian passport enters visa-free for 90 days. Maseru, the laid-back capital, is the gateway to high plateaus, dizzying waterfalls and a proud, welcoming mountain culture.
