Sweden
Scandinavian design, archipelagos and auroras
Sweden combines sleek cities, vast nature and an enviable quality of life. Stockholm spreads across fourteen islands between water and forest; up north, Lapland offers northern lights and endless nights. Design, coffee ('fika'), sustainability and safety are part of the Swedish way of life. For a Cameroonian traveller it is a safe, well-organised Schengen destination, on the pricey side but restfully beautiful, ideal for lovers of nature and Nordic aesthetics.

The visa, step by step
How to apply
Sweden does not accept visa applications in Cameroon. Cameroon residents submit their application in person at VFS Global in Abuja or Lagos (Nigeria), by appointment, with fingerprints and photo. The file is sent to the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi (Kenya), which decides. You then collect your passport at VFS or have it delivered (for a fee).
Required documents
- Passport valid at least 3 months beyond the end of the stay + copies of used pages (and your previous passport if issued within the last year)
- Completed and signed Schengen form, 1 colour photo 35 x 45 mm less than 6 months old, copy of national ID card
- Travel medical insurance (min. €30,000) and proof of visa fee payment
- Round-trip ticket or reservation and hotel booking for the whole stay
- Bank statement for the last 3 months; employees: employment certificate, 3 payslips and social security registration
Good to know
- •Plan a trip to Nigeria (Abuja or Lagos) for the VFS appointment.
- •Visa questions go to the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi (ambassaden.nairobi-visum@gov.se), not Abuja.
- •Only VFS Global is authorised: no intermediary can speed up the file or influence the decision.
