Cameroonian passport: 90 countries you can visit without going to an embassy

"With a Cameroonian passport, you can't go anywhere"? Wrong. 23 visa-free countries, 13 with visa on arrival and 54 with an e-visa: 90 destinations without queuing at an embassy.

You hear it all the time: with a Cameroonian passport, you can't travel without spending weeks at an embassy. That's what Djo believed in our video… until Vora pulled out Travora's numbers. As of 30 September 2026, 90 destinations are open to a Cameroonian without going to an embassy:

Visa-free countries

CEMAC neighbours

Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo and Gabon: within the CEMAC zone, no visa. Even Gabon, which has scrapped the visa for its CEMAC neighbours.

Further afield in Africa

  • Nigeria: up to 90 days visa-free.
  • Kenya: 60 days, with no visa or online authorisation since July 2025.
  • Togo: visa-free for all Africans since May 2026. An online declaration must be made at least 24 hours before arrival on Togo's official website.

And much further away

This is the surprise of the video: Singapore, the Philippines and even Barbados, in the Caribbean, don't require a visa from Cameroonians for a short tourist stay.

Visa-on-arrival countries

13 countries issue the visa directly at the airport. The most dreamed-of:

  • the Maldives: free 30-day visa on arrival;
  • Mauritius: up to 60 days.

On arrival, you'll generally be asked for a return ticket, a hotel booking and sometimes proof of funds.

E-visa countries

This is the largest category: 54 countries. You fill in the form online, pay, and receive the visa by email. Among them: Thailand, Vietnam, India… and Ghana, whose e-visa has been free for Africans since 25 May 2026 (you still have to apply for it).

"Visa-free" doesn't mean "nothing needed"

Even without a visa, you can be refused boarding or entry. What's most often required:

  • a passport valid for 6 months after your return date;
  • a return ticket (or onward ticket);
  • a yellow fever vaccination card: Cameroon is a risk country, and many countries require it;
  • sometimes an address for your stay and proof of funds.

If you still mix up visa, passport and electronic travel authorisation, read our explainer: what exactly is a visa?

How to check a specific country?

On Travora, choose Cameroon as your departure country: the visa guide shows the three lists (visa-free, on arrival, e-visa) and the countries where you have to go through an embassy. Each country has its own page with the documents, length of stay, budget in CFA francs and the best season.

The numbers change: a country can scrap its visa (like Togo or Kenya) or bring one back. Travora's lists are updated as official announcements come out.

And if you hold another African passport, the series continues: the Ivorian passport opens 103 destinations without an embassy.

Information checked on 12 October 2026 against the official sources below. Visa rules change often: confirm again before you book.
