Cameroonian passport + Schengen visa: the countries that open up without another visa

Your Schengen visa isn't only for Europe. Serbia, Montenegro, Georgia, Cyprus, and all the way to Mexico for six months: the countries that open up to a Cameroonian passport, and the conditions.

You have a Cameroonian passport and you've just got a Schengen visa? It isn't only useful in Western Europe. Several countries accept a valid Schengen visa instead of their own visa, under conditions. Djo didn't believe it; here is the list, checked again on 3 November 2026.

The principle: one visa standing in for another

These countries don't drop the visa for Cameroonians: they make an exception for travellers who have already passed a demanding country's checks (Schengen area, United States, sometimes the United Kingdom). Three details make all the difference:

  • the visa must be valid on the day you enter, and often for your whole stay;
  • some countries require a multiple-entry visa (on the sticker: "MULT");
  • others want a visa already used at least once in the country that issued it.

In Europe: the Balkans, Cyprus and Georgia

CountryWhat you needLength of stay
SerbiaValid Schengen visa90 days in 180, not beyond the visa's end date
MontenegroValid Schengen visa30 days, not beyond the visa's end date
AlbaniaMultiple-entry Schengen visa, already usedUntil 3 days before the visa expires
Bosnia and HerzegovinaMultiple-entry Schengen visa30 days per stay, 90 in 180
Cyprus (EU)Double- or multiple-entry Schengen visaWithin the visa's validity
GeorgiaVisa valid on the day of entry90 days in 180

Good to know: Cyprus is in the European Union but not yet in the Schengen area. Days spent in Cyprus are not deducted from your Schengen stay.

In Latin America: the biggest surprise

  • Panama: 30 days with a multiple-entry visa, still valid for at least 6 months on arrival and already used in the issuing country (Schengen, United States, United Kingdom, Canada…). Bring proof of at least $500 and a return ticket.
  • Costa Rica: 30 days with a multiple-entry US, Canadian or Schengen visa, valid for at least one day on entry. The video only mentioned the US visa: since a November 2025 directive, a multiple-entry Schengen visa also opens Costa Rica.
  • Belize: with a valid multiple-entry US, Canadian or Schengen visa, no Belizean visa needed.

The country where you can stay up to six months: Mexico

With a valid US, Schengen, British, Canadian or Japanese visa, a Cameroonian can enter Mexico without a Mexican visa, for tourism. Mexican embassies specify that it must be multiple-entry. Stays can last up to 180 days, but the immigration officer on arrival sets the exact length: have your hotel booking, your return ticket and proof of funds ready.

What about Turkey?

No. Even with a Schengen or US visa, a Cameroonian must apply for a Turkish visa at the embassy: Cameroon is excluded from the Turkish e-visa, including the e-visa reserved for Schengen visa holders.

Before you go

These rules change often, and the immigration officer always has the final say. Carry your passport with the visa, a return ticket, a hotel booking and proof of funds. On Travora, each country's page shows the rule for your passport: start with the Cameroon visa guide, then the pages for Serbia, Georgia and Mexico.
